Accounting & Bookkeeping Services in Ahmedabad

Bookkeeping is the running record of every transaction your business makes; accounting turns that record into statements you can act on. Makhija & Company maintains books for Ahmedabad businesses month by month, produces readable financial reports, and keeps the records in the shape a lender, an auditor or the department will ask for.

What it is, in plain terms

Most small businesses do not have an accounting problem in January. They have one in July, when a year of receipts has to become a return, or in October, when a bank asks for financials and there is nothing to hand over.

Keeping books monthly costs less than reconstructing them annually, and it means your GST returns, income tax return and any loan file all draw on the same set of numbers. When those three disagree, it is almost always because the books were built backwards from the returns instead of the other way round.

Who this is for

If one of these sounds like you, this is the right page.

  • Businesses whose accounting is currently a shoebox reconciled once a year
  • Owners who want to know their real margin monthly, not annually
  • Anyone planning to apply for finance in the next twelve months
  • Businesses subject to statutory or tax audit that need clean records first
  • Firms whose GST returns and books have drifted out of agreement
  • Employers who need payroll and TDS handled alongside the books

Documents you will need

This is the general set. After the first call you get one checklist built for your exact case, rather than a generic list you have to interpret.

  • 01 Sales invoices and purchase bills for the period
  • 02 Bank statements for every business account
  • 03 Cash book or expense record
  • 04 Existing accounting data — Tally backup, spreadsheet or previous accountant's file
  • 05 Loan and EMI statements
  • 06 Payroll details, if we are running payroll
  • 07 Last filed GST and income tax returns, for opening balances

Books for shops and traders, kept monthly

Most of our bookkeeping clients are shops, wholesalers and small manufacturers in the Sarangpur and Kalupur belt. The pattern is nearly always the same — sales are strong, the owner knows the margin by instinct, and the records are a drawer of bills. Monthly bookkeeping costs less than annual reconstruction, and it means that when a bank asks for financials you can hand them over the same week instead of the month after.

Feeding returns and audits

The same books drive your GST returns, income tax return and any loan file, so the three agree.

Questions

Accounting & Bookkeeping — frequently asked

  • QCan you take over from my current accountant?

Yes — taking over from another accountant is routine work. We start by reviewing your last filed returns and books for open items — pending notices, mismatched input credit, missed deadlines — then agree a transition plan so nothing lapses in between.

  • QDo I need monthly bookkeeping, or is annual enough?

Legally, what matters is that the return is right. Practically, monthly bookkeeping costs less than annual reconstruction, catches errors while they can still be fixed, and means you can produce financials the week a lender asks rather than the month after.

  • QWhat software do you use?

We work with whatever accounting software you already have where possible, including Tally and spreadsheet-based records. The point is that the data is accurate and retrievable, not which package it lives in.

  • QMy books and GST returns do not match. Can that be fixed?

Usually yes. Mismatches normally come from unrecorded purchases, credit claimed but not booked, or invoices entered in the wrong period. We reconcile the two and tell you what needs correcting in which return.
