PMEGP Loan & Subsidy Consultants in Ahmedabad

PMEGP is a credit-linked subsidy scheme for setting up new micro enterprises in manufacturing and services, administered through KVIC, State KVIBs and District Industries Centres. A portion of the project cost comes as government subsidy, the rest as bank finance and your own contribution. Makhija & Company prepares the project report and manages the application.

What it is, in plain terms

PMEGP is aimed at employment generation, which is why it funds new units rather than expansions and why the project report matters so much: the sanctioning committee is assessing whether the proposed enterprise will actually run and employ people.

Applications fail more often on the report than on the applicant. A project report with generic costings, an unrealistic capacity assumption or a market section that could describe any business will not clear the committee, however sound the idea is.

Who this is for

If one of these sounds like you, this is the right page.

  • First-time entrepreneurs setting up a new manufacturing or service unit
  • Applicants who meet the scheme's age and educational qualification conditions
  • People who have not previously availed subsidy under PMEGP or a similar scheme
  • Units being established in either urban or rural areas — the subsidy differs between them
  • Applicants from categories eligible for the higher subsidy rate
  • Anyone whose earlier PMEGP application was rejected on the project report

Documents you will need

This is the general set. After the first call you get one checklist built for your exact case, rather than a generic list you have to interpret.

  • 01 PAN, Aadhaar and passport-size photographs
  • 02 Educational qualification certificate, where the activity requires it
  • 03 Caste or special-category certificate, where a higher subsidy rate is claimed
  • 04 Rural area certificate, if applicable
  • 05 Detailed project report with costings and projections
  • 06 Quotations for machinery and equipment
  • 07 Proof of the proposed premises — rent agreement or ownership document
  • 08 EDP training certificate

New units in and around Ahmedabad

PMEGP funds new units only, and whether your unit counts as urban or rural changes the subsidy. For applicants around Ahmedabad that distinction is worth checking before anything else is prepared, because it changes the numbers in the project report.

Questions

PMEGP Loan — frequently asked

  • QWho is eligible for PMEGP?

It is for individuals setting up a new micro enterprise, subject to conditions on age, educational qualification for certain project sizes, and not having previously taken subsidy under PMEGP or a comparable scheme. Existing businesses are not eligible — the scheme funds new units.

  • QHow much subsidy will I get under PMEGP?

The PMEGP subsidy rate depends on your category and on whether the unit is in an urban or rural area, and these rates are revised from time to time. We work out the figure that applies to your specific case rather than quoting a number that may have changed.

  • QCan an existing business apply?

No. PMEGP funds new units. If you already run a business and want finance to expand, CGTMSE-backed credit or a conventional business loan is the route — we will tell you which fits.

  • QIs EDP training compulsory?

Entrepreneurship Development Programme training is part of the process for PMEGP beneficiaries. We will tell you when it needs to happen relative to the rest of your application so it does not hold up the sanction.

  • QWhy do PMEGP applications get rejected?

PMEGP applications are most often rejected on the project report — generic costings, capacity figures that do not add up, or a market assessment that could apply to any business. The committee is deciding whether the unit will genuinely operate, and a report that does not answer that question does not clear.
