Income and regime review
We map every source of income and compare the old and new regimes on your actual numbers before choosing.
An income tax return is the annual statement of your income, deductions and tax paid, filed with the Income Tax Department. Which form applies depends on how you earn — salary, business, profession, capital gains or a mix. Makhija & Company files returns for salaried individuals, proprietors, partnerships, LLPs and companies, and handles the advance tax, TDS and assessment work around them.
| Who should file | Anyone above the basic exemption limit, plus several categories required to file regardless of income |
|---|---|
| Common forms | ITR-1 and ITR-2 for individuals, ITR-3 for business and profession, ITR-4 for presumptive, ITR-5 for firms and LLPs, ITR-6 for companies |
| Advance tax | Payable in instalments through the year where liability crosses the prescribed limit |
| Presumptive schemes | Sections 44AD and 44ADA reduce bookkeeping for eligible small businesses and professionals |
| Regime choice | Old and new regimes tax differently — the better one depends on your deductions |
| Also handled | TDS returns, rectifications, assessments and notice replies |
Filing a return is not only a legal obligation. It is the document every lender, visa officer and serious buyer asks for when they want to know what your business actually earns. A business with three years of clean, consistent returns can borrow. One without them usually cannot, whatever its real turnover.
That is why we treat the return as the output of the year's bookkeeping rather than a form filled in July. If the books are right, the return is straightforward and it holds up when someone looks at it.
If one of these sounds like you, this is the right page.
This is the general set. After the first call you get one checklist built for your exact case, rather than a generic list you have to interpret.
That is what the free consultation is for. Tell us the situation and we will tell you the shortest route through it — including when the answer is that you do not need this service at all.

The businesses we file for are mostly owner-run trading and retail concerns in and around Sarangpur, Kalupur and Bapunagar — the kind where the owner knows the numbers but has never had them written down properly. If your books have been kept the same way for years and you are not sure they will hold up, bring them in. We would rather look at them in August than reconstruct them in July.

We map every source of income and compare the old and new regimes on your actual numbers before choosing.
Your figures are matched against Form 26AS and the AIS so nothing the department already knows about is missing from the return.
The return is filed and e-verified, and you get the acknowledgement for your records.
If an intimation or notice follows, we handle the response and any rectification.
QDo I need to file an ITR if my income is below the taxable limit?
Often yes. Filing is required in several situations regardless of income level — for example high-value deposits, large electricity spend, foreign travel expenditure or foreign assets. Beyond the legal position, a filed return is what lenders ask for when you later apply for finance, so it is usually worth filing even where it is not strictly required.
QWhich ITR form applies to me?
It depends on the nature of your income, not on how much you earn. Salary alone usually means ITR-1 or ITR-2; business or professional income means ITR-3, or ITR-4 under a presumptive scheme; firms and LLPs file ITR-5 and companies ITR-6. Filing the wrong form can make the return defective, so we confirm it before starting.
QOld regime or new regime — which is better?
There is no universal answer. The new regime has lower rates but removes most deductions; the old regime rewards people with housing loan interest, insurance, PPF and similar claims. We compute both on your actual figures and file under whichever leaves you better off.
QWhat is advance tax and do I have to pay it?
Advance tax is tax paid during the year rather than at the end of it, in instalments, once your estimated liability crosses the prescribed limit. Missing instalments attracts interest, so we schedule them rather than leaving it to March.
QCan I revise a return I have already filed?
Yes, a return can be revised within the time allowed, and there is also a mechanism for filing an updated return in certain cases. Bring the original acknowledgement and we will tell you which route applies.
